In 1972, an Oakland schoolteacher named Olive Freeman rallied her friends to begin reaching out to meet the needs of disadvantaged youth, immigrants, and low-income families in the city. The intersection of their faith and actions became known as Harbor House Ministries. 43 years later, Harbor House continues to serve the San Antonio neighborhood with after-school programs, ESL classes, emergency food and clothing, and economic development initiatives.
