#ArtsEd Mark your calendars! The 2017 Lower Merion #Jazz Festival is set to take place on Friday, March 10th with performances beginning at 5:30 PM. This adjudicated event is part of the larger Cavalcade of Bands’ annual jazz festival series. Participants include high school jazz bands from Harriton, Upper Merion, Radnor, LaSalle College High School, Marple Newtown, Upper Moreland, North Penn Columbia, Interboro and Camden Creative Arts. #ArtsEd Harriton High School will be well-represented at the 30th Annual PA State Education Association “Touch the Future” Art Show as 22 students had their pieces selected into the juried competition, which puts the spotlight on the extraordinary works of art from students throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties. The Harriton selections are highlighted by three overall winners: Lian Brody and Hannah Wheeler, who each claimed first place in the printmaking and fiber arts categories, respectively; and Charlotte Perin, who took top honors in this year’s competition with the coveted “Best in Show” award! Seventh grade students at Welsh Valley Middle School recently explored an introduction to #genetics as part of the University of Pennsylvania's #BioEYES program – a K-12 science education initiative providing classroom-based learning opportunities through the use of live zebra fish. BioEYES is designed to incorporate teacher empowerment and provides professional development seminars and a co-teaching experience with trained science consultants, called outreach educations!
