Studio of The Dance Arts

Throughout the years, Doreen has revised and expanded the programs at the Studio of the Dance Arts to meet the needs of her students and the community. The Studio offers classes for pre-school age 3 through senior citizens and also offers classes for persons with disabilities.

Doreen and all the instructors at the Studio of the Dance Arts believe that correct technical training is a must. Proper body placement and technique are taught in all classes. This is essential to prevent injury and produce accomplished dancers. The Studio prides itself on providing a healthy learning environment. Students are taught with positive reinforcement. No negativism is allowed!

Doreen Leary McCann is the director of the Studio of the Dance Arts. She has over 30 years of teaching experience and holds a BA in dance from SUNY Brockport. While at Brockport she had the opportunity to study under Garth Fagan and Suzanne Newman. Doreen has completed teacher training and continues to attend teacher workshops and dance intensives to keep up with the latest dance information. Doreen is also the director and choreographer of the Studio of the Dance Arts competition teams. Her choreography has won the “Outstanding Choreography” Award at both “Footloose” and “Star Systems” competitions. In addition, Doreen has won the “Top Teacher” Award. Her teams consistently place well and have brought home many high gold and first place trophies. Her dancers have won various title competitions such as “Junior Miss Dance USA of NY”.
