OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY Play is the essential ingredient of the programs in our school. Through play in a well-arranged and regularly enriched environment, children learn about themselves and their capabilities and develop their cognitive, social, and emotional capacities. Each classroom has a posted Lesson Plan and we use The Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards to help support our curriculum. The classroom spaces are divided into learning areas that guide children's self-initiated activities. Teachers create a challenging environment in which information is available through a variety of materials. Throughout the day our children can be found in active play and quiet play, indoors or in our wonderful outdoor space. Research such as eating, sleeping, washroom, learning circles, and small group activities have structure and take place at approximately the same time every day. Consistency is important for the child's peace of mind and beneficial for the parent to know when a "special visit" would be best. The children are encouraged to make their own choices and decisions to help develop a sense of independence and self worth. Staff is always available to provide support, direction (setting limits), and comfort.
