Energy Upgrade California is a statewide initiative that enables Californians to take action to help avoid preventable power outages and get rewarded with Flex Alert and Power Saver Rewards.
We are supported by an alliance of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the California Energy Commission, utilities, regional energy networks, local governments, businesses, and nonprofits. Funding comes from investor-owned utility customers under the auspices of the CPUC.
Flex Alerts notify Californians when there’s not enough energy supply to meet demand so they can reduce energy use from 4-9PM and help avoid a preventable power outage.
Power Saver Rewards is a new program where Californians can get money back for using less energy during a Flex Alert. Enrollees will receive a credit on their energy bill when they reduce energy use while a Flex Alert is in effect. To find out more information, go to
Cost rewards earned through energy conservation actions during a Flex Alert event will be credited to a future bill statement.
