After some tough wrestling by the Varsity Bridgers today at sections, three of our boys qualified for WPIALS! 113, 3rd place, Daniel Yetsick 126, 3rd place, Jacob Dunlap 160, 5th place, Justin Hassick The boys will compete in the WPIAL finals next weekend at Canon Mac High School. Congratulations!

State Street Elementary hosted the District Sixth Grade Spelling Bee on Friday, February 24, 2017. One student from each homeroom represented their school. Economy Elementary representatives were Julia Bennett, Bobby Godfrey, Molly Green, and Collin Kloos. Highland Elementary representatives were Tyler McKnight, Haley Johnson, Carmen Sylvester, and Hunter Morrison. State Street Elementary representatives were Lily Park and Naomi Pedigo. The runner-ups were Nathan Bosh, Josh Hohman, Caison Holland, Brendan Jones, Madison Mahalic, Trusten Carter, Jason Harvey, Tessah Cheran, Sarah Firich, and Harley Turner. Congratulations to all of our participants. The first place winner for the district was Lily Park of State Street Elementary. The second place winner was Julia Bennett from Economy Elementary and the third place winner was Naomi Pedigo from State Street Elementary. Lily will advance to the county bee in May 2017 at Western Beaver. Great Job Sixth Grade and a special thanks to Mr. McKelvey for his help with this event!

Ambridge Area School District added 8 new photos.
The Ambridge Area Unified Bocce Team celebrated their Senior Night on Thursday, February 16, 2017. Mrs. Teresa Brewer, Mr. Steve Hrvatin, and Mr. Pete Keller are the coaches of the Unified Team. The senior members of the team are Bree Clark, Cierra Flannigan, Dylan McCarrier, and Robbie Whittman. As part of their Senior Project, Michael Bianchini and Thomas Forman are helping with the team. Senior Project. The Unified team was created this year as part of Special Olympics to promote social inclusion. Underclassmen on the team are Jonathan Brown, Brianne Decanio, Savannah Fischer, Logan Prendergast, Niya Ridout, and Jacob Schmitt. The indoor game is played similarly to the traditional outside game. PVC tubing makes up the court, and the bocce balls and palini are made of a rubber material so as not to damage the flooring. Our Unified Bocce team will be going to the Regional tournament playoff at Central Valley on February 28, 2017.
