Workers United will stand up not only for members, but for all workers by organizing for strong contracts, fair wages, good benefits and workers’ rights.

Our vision for our union is to be a strong, aggressive and growing union driven by the strength of an informed and empowered membership. Workers United belongs to all its members and acts with transparency and honestly.

We are working to pass the Employee Free Choice Act which will guarantee workers the right to form unions and we will move quickly to campaign at unprecedented levels in order to provide workers the opportunity to claim that right. Organizing more workers is the only way to save the economy and ultimately the quality of jobs in our members’ industries.

Workers United held its first convention on March 21st. This new union was formed through an unprecedented display of rank and file union democracy. Over 150,000 workers have come together to form this new union with over 75,000 participating directly. The convention voted unanimously to authorize its General Executive Board to explore affiliating with the two million members of SEIU and on March 22nd the GEB and SEIU leadership held votes for Workers United to become a Conference of SEIU. We believe this will strengthen the union so that it can negotiate better contracts and protect members on the job, and work with other unions to support President Obama’s agenda for jobs and healthcare.
