The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Chernobyl, what is now the Ukraine, exploded in 1986. The devastating results included four times more radioactive fallout than realized by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Over 20 years later the effects of that tragedy still impact the area. Thousands of children are born with cancer in the Ukraine and other nearby areas. Because the average income in the area is very low, many families are unable to pay for the medication and treatment required to keep their children alive.
The effects of this nuclear disaster is expected to be felt for many years to come and thousands of babies and young children will continue to die from cancer if they do not receive urgent help. We cannot afford to forget them and the terrible crisis with which they are confronted.
You can make a difference in the lives of these children and help to save a life by making a donation today to this worthy cause.
