PYHIT Fast Facts

Who We Serve: Individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness and those who have been previously incarcerated or are facing the prison system due to addiction.

What We Do: PYHIT and its five nonprofit entities provide services to the aforementioned marginalized individuals. These services (which can be found in more detail here: ) include vocational training, job placement services, emergency shelter, transitional living accommodations, parole re-entry services, veterans services, and more.

Our Mission: At PYHIT, our mission is to create taxpayers. Essentially, we wish to help our clients become economically self-sufficient individuals who earn enough stable income to be able to pay taxes and therefore be active and participating members in society.

Methods At Work: Father Peter Young’s programs are based on the idea of a three-legged stool. Without all three legs firmly attached to it, a stool will easily topple. Similarly, when an individual in recovery does not have access to what we consider to be the three factors that enable success (housing, employment, and treatment), he or she will not be able to function at his or her highest potential and attain the economic self-sufficiency needed to thrive in our society.

Addressing the Need: The needs of the communities that we serve are always changing. PYHIT's success would not be so without the constant contribution and hard work of our dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for compassionate individuals to aid us in our fight against addiction, poverty, and the current structure of the prison system.
