Lighthouse Family Network was conceived in the heart of Leona Lambert in 1969 when she opened her home and family to a five-year-old boy whose mother was unable to care for him. Thus began a long journey of sacrifice that has touched the lives of untold numbers of children.
Leona was convinced that with each child was an opportunity to show God’s love. She believed that all children deserve another chance and she gave her life to that purpose. She viewed foster care as a God-given calling and believed that each child should be approached with the love and commitment one would give to caring for God’s own Son.
Through the efforts of Leona and her husband, Lamar, hurting children have been served and lives have been changed. Leona worked unselfishly with children until her death in 1991.
