City of Centerville Employment Opportunity—Benham’s Grove Laborer Now accepting applications for the part-time, year-round position of Benham’s Grove Laborer. This position provides essential support to Benham’s Grove, assisting in the preservation and maintenance of this unique oasis-like environment. For over 25 years, Benham’s Grove has served as the backdrop for special occasions of all kinds—wedding receptions, holiday parties, art shows and more. This would not be possible without dedicated staff members who ensure that details are attended to and our facilities and grounds are in top notch condition. To join the Benham’s Grove team, we invite you to apply for this opening as soon as possible. Laborer Position Responsibilities Responsible for the general upkeep of all buildings and property at Benham’s Grove. Duties involve miscellaneous manual labor, moving of furniture (tables, chairs, etc.) for event set-up and tear-down, and custodial work. Cleans all facilities before and after each event, picks up trash and inspects grounds continuously. Performs routine grounds and building maintenance (painting, cleaning, and minor repairs), tends flower pots and beds, and performs routine landscaping (including weeding, watering, planting, and edging). May perform seasonal work such as snow removal, leaf pick-up, and watering duties. Operates light equipment including vacuum cleaner and blowers. Responsible for keeping all furniture clean. Responds to inquiries and/or concerns from citizens or patrons of Benham’s Grove. Heavy lifting ability (40+ lbs) required and the ideal candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule, up to 20 hours per week, including holidays and weekends. Must be self-driven and have the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. The starting pay for this position is $9.50 per hour, with eligibility for merit increases up to $12.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. This year, more than 85,000 people will attend the festival and more than 100 volunteers will be working behind the scenes to make it all happen.
