George C. Stafford founded George C. Stafford and Sons, Inc. in 1928. The business was operated by George and five of his sons; Walter, Theo, Dave, Bill and Charles F. Stafford.
In the late 1960’s, Warren Mitchell, son-in-law to Charles F. Stafford joined the company. In 1970, Charles F. Stafford’s son, Charles D. Stafford, came in to the business. Warren Mitchell and Charles D. Stafford founded Stafford Oil Company. Under the successful leadership of this third generation, George C. Stafford and Sons Inc. and Stafford Oil Company Inc. have grown to become the companies we know today.
In December of 1997, Warren Mitchell retired. Warren’s son-in-law, Jeff Pearson, who began work for the company in the early 1980’s, became an owner and a Vice President of Stafford Oil Company until he retired from the companies in 2014.
In 2006, Charlie’s son, Curtis, joined the family business. Curtis became an owner in 2009 and in June 2015 was elected President of all companies, becoming the fourth-generation Stafford to hold that title.
Today, Charlie and Curtis comprise a team of third and fourth generation ownership committed to the same honest, hardworking morals and values.
