Dobbs Ferry Karate, also known as Ryu Renshi-Dan was founded in 1977 by Kyoshi Jose Guzman, 8th degree black belt. Dobbs Ferry Karate was one of the first Martial Arts training centers established in Westchester County and is now recognized as one of the finest and longest running schools in the country. The Ryu Renshi-Dan Style is a very eclectic blend of Shotokan, Ishin-ryu and Goju Karate; all styles that Kyoshi Guzman studied and brought together to make this unique system. Also incorporated into our system is Judo, Ju-Jitus, Weapons (Kobudo) and grappling. Our senior teaching staff has decades of martial arts training under their belts which enables them to show and teach many different arts and styles. This keeps classes fun, unique and unexpecting as to what will be learned.
