The Fulton County Rehabilitation Center ( ) opened for business on July 1, 1983 at its current location, 500 North Main Street. Services were also provided at the Nursing Center of Canton, now Renaissance Care Center. Services to consumers continue at Renaissance to this day. The original members of the Board of Directors were Rex Lewis, Julian Hickman, Tom Maas, Cattron, Bob Ketcham, and Mike Snedeker. When first opened the doors there were fifty consumers and thirteen staff members. At that time Industries was also located on North Main Street. In 1984 purchased the Miller Dodge building located at 625 S. 5th Avenue. The building was remodeled and Industries began operation at its current location in 1985. By 1991 had grown to two hundred consumers and seventy-four staff members. During that time offered a birth to three program and a children’s program. Those programs were later assimilated into the public school system. Over the years transportation of the consumers to the facility grew. recognized a need for wheel chair accessible transportation in the area which spawned Fulton County Rural Transportation. Currently provides services to one hundred and eight consumers from Fulton and Mason Counties and has a staff of forty-five people.
