Hospice of Sweetwater County

Considered a radical alternative in the late 1970’s when the first American hospices were established, hospice has become the most recognizable care offered specifically at the end of life. The concept that terminally ill individuals have a right to chose comfort and dignity gave birth to one of the most significant grassroots movements in American history.

We admitted our first patient in 1983 following two years of planning by a group of dedicated individuals united by the vision that all people deserve choice, comfort and dignity at the end of life. Their passion for excellence and unwavering commitment to our patients is a legacy that has continued for 28 years.

As the first hospice in Wyoming to become Medicare certified, HSC helped pioneer this concept of care throughout the state, providing training to emerging hospices, advocating for state licensure and consulting in the development of Wyoming rules and regulations for hospice in the early 1990’s.

Hospice of Sweetwater County is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community based organization -- supported by our community -- shaped by our community -- serving all eligible individuals without regard to race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, handicap, national origin, diagnosis or ability to pay.

"You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but to live until you die."
Dame Cicely Saunders
