Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is a non-profit human service organization serving over 10,000 youth and families annually. The agency provides child welfare, mental health, education and juvenile justice systems with cost-effective, safe alternatives to residential, correctional and other out-of-home placements.
YAP offers technical support, training and consultation to organizations and to systems in the United States and abroad, and has worked with the Youth Justice Board in England, Ireland's Children's Health Boards, Hale Kipa in Hawaii, Kibble in Scotland, NYC's Administration for Children's Services.
YAP holds two fundamental beliefs that drive our every effort: 1. Children and youth develop best in the context of a family and community; 2. Every individual and family has strengths and capabilities that can and must be developed.
Guiding the development of those strengths are the Core Principles of the Advocate Programs. The principles reflect the agency's ongoing commitment to family-focused programming that empowers youth and families to lead healthy, safe and productive lives.
