Harding Park

The Harding Park Meeting House Building Committee involves members of Hubbard CARES and Hubbard Rotary working together to preserve a piece of Hubbard's history. Rotarians have long been interested in leading an effort to construct a new facility at Harding Park to extend its seasonal use by the community. Hubbard Rotary's vision for a year round facility at the park has been merged with Hubbard CARES vision for reconstruction of the historic Presbyterian Meeting House that once stood on the corner of Hager and West Liberty. A plan has been developed by architects Jay Crafton, Steve Litz and Art Morris, for a two level structure to be built near the entrance of Harding Park. The new facility, which will be new construction enhanced with preserved pieces of the original church, has been named Harding Park Meeting House, a name which it borrows from the building's past while acknowledging its future use and location. Appropriate uses for the structure include events such as weddings, receptions, holiday concerts, recitals, memorials, meetings, lectures, educational tours, parties, showers and reunions.

The Committee has overseen restoration of the original 1857 Bell Tower which stands at the entrance to Harding Park. In addition, a wedding pergola, the Pauline Pergola, is available for rental from May through October. The Committee also runs the popular Annual Taste of Hubbard, bringing hundreds of people to the park each September to sample foods from area restaurants, bakers, delis, and ice cream makers.
