The Whatcom County Public Works Department ensures the integrity of Whatcom County’s transportation infrastructure, providing safe roads, bridges, and a ferry for commerce and for the travelling public. Public Works provides natural resource services including stormwater treatment, flood control, noxious weed management, and solid waste planning. Public Works crews are principal responders during winter storms, flooding, landslides, and other natural disasters.
The Public Works team is organized into five divisions, Maintenance and Operations, Engineering, Equipment Services, Surface Water, and Administration.
Whatcom County Public Works employees demonstrate a high level of professional and personal achievement. Many are recognized community leaders.
