There is help available for anyone in our community that has been affected by the tornado. Samaritan’s Purse has a mobile command unit stationed at Carterville Baptist Church. They are able to help remove fallen trees and other debris, patch roofs with tarps, clean up homes, and minister to emotional needs. Volunteers are needed and welcomed. Samaritan’t Purse has been assessing the needs in our city and Hattiesburg. They have all of the necessary tools and equipment. They will train volunteers and send them to the areas in greatest need. Please go by to register to volunteer or cal 601-297-9251. The Center for Families and Children at 201 W. Central Avenue is collecting clothing for tornado victims. Call 601-584-4707. The Petal Childrens Task Force is collecting school uniforms and food. The food pantry is EMPTY! Please bring non-perishables to 314 S. George Street. 60-255-5578.

Due to the recent tragedy in our community, the 2016 Petal Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet has been canceled. It will be rescheduled at a later date. We hope that all of our guests will be able to attend at that time.

Please post any information you have regarding the tornado. As the Mayor requested, don't go sightseeing! It is critical that we allow the responders to do their job.
