WHAT IS RADON?:
A study from the United States Environmental Protection Agency shows that smoking is one of the top well-known cause of Lung Cancer among the US citizen. It is also stated that smoking causes more than 30,000 deaths per annum in the United States alone. Smoking as a Cause of Lung Diseases and other type of Cancer is identified internationally thus making this news not much of a surprise. What should perk the population’s worry though, would be the Radon gas-which, based to the similar source, is the second most repeated cause of Lung Cancer in the United States, killing up to 21,000 Americans per year. But sadly, most people don’t know much about Radon and even quite a few says they know nothing at all.

Radon gas is a product by the decay of Uranium and such gas is common in the Earth's crust. This gas can be found even in spring waters and hot springs.

It is an odorless, tasteless, and colorless gas that is considered a health hazard due to its extreme radioactivity. Radon is really harmful and hard to prevent since it has the identical properties of other gases.

Because Radon is well-situated almost everywhere, it is normal to inhale and exhale it to some degree unconsciously. Outside the coven of our homes, Radon doesn’t come as a severe threat since it is readily dispersed into the atmosphere. However, harmful Radon could be gathered indoors, especially in our basements, and attics.

Radon causes damage to our lungs by emitting radioactivity and alpha particles that causes damage to the alveoli and the lung cells. Various lung diseases can come up from repeated exposures to a place where Radon resides in high concentration, diseases that may result in Lung Cancer.

If you have Radon in your house, don't panic, there are house improvements available to cease Radon. It is well-known for a house to have closed spaces, this increases Radon and experts advise to have appropriate ventilation to push the Radon out of the crawl space of the room. If it is not possible to have customization in your attic or basement, it is recommended that such gas should avoid getting areas where the family is frequently staying. If you follow such simple guidelines, you and your family will have a worry and Radon free home.
