The mission of the Pennsylvania Bible Society is to distribute Holy Scripture without note or comment to all who want it, at an affordable price (or free of charge to those unable to pay). We are America's first Bible Society - formed on December 12, 1808. On December 12, 2008 we celebrated our bicentennial! Our street presence is our Resource Center, at 701 Walnut Street and we sell all Scripture at cost. Our Grant Program donates thousands of Bibles each year to emerging ministries, children's camps and after-school programs, shelters, prisons, and inner-city missions. Any operating loss from our programs is paid for by the contributions of individuals, churches and foundations.
