We're using LED lights to color our trees at the Festival of Trees at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Our display shows how much money you can save at home with LED lights. The 25 strands on our tree would cost you roughly $1.80 a month versus the same number of incandescent lights that would cost $72.00 a month to light up.

Training for this week was a safety presentation from Alliant Energy. They brought in a demonstration transmission system familiarize us with the hazards that we might encounter. No animals were harmed or injured in this demonstration of an animal playing on a transformer -- causing the fuse to blow.
