The Illinois Environmental Council (IEC) is a state-wide non-profit organization that acts as a legislative watchdog for the environmental community and concerned citizens. The IEC is a small but passionate organization that is based in Springfield about a block or two from the Illinois State Capitol.
The IEC's motto is, "The Eyes, Ears, and Voice of the Environmental Community in Springfield."
The IEC is made up fo the Illinois Environmental Council and the Illinois Environmental Council Education Fund. The council is the actual advocacy arm of the organization while the Education Fund is our coalition building and information clearing house. Together the council and eduication fund make up the Illinois Environmental Council.
