Warm weather means it's Yard-Sale Season!!! Emerson Gardens' Annual Yard Sale will be held on the front lawn located at 940 Emerson St. on Saturday, June 3rd from 8 am to 3 pm. If it rains we will have things displayed inside the Community Room by the patio. If you have anything you would like to contribute, please drop it off in the office by June 2nd. We always like to see our Capitol Hill neighbors and are grateful for the donations provided each year. The money earned from the sale goes toward the Residents' Activity Fund - led by a resident-based committee.

Some of our residents had fun feeding ducks and geese at the Cortez City Park!

Happy Mothers' Day to all the wonderful women in our lives! Including Madison House resident, June. See her here holding photos of her two new great grandbabies! Baby number 1 is William. He was born May 8th and named after June's husband. Baby number 2 was born May 11th and was given the middle name of June after her great grandmother! Congratulations, June! And again, we want to say: HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!!!!

Meet Ron! He became a member of the Senior Housing Options' community after suffering a terrible assault that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. Ron lost his memory and spent nine months in the hospital as a John Doe before being identified by a friend. Ron's life completely changed but wouldn't let his injury define him. "I have a life, nothing held me back. And I had the American Dream, which is why I am alive," he said. "I had it all, I lived life. This is the second life. My first life was wonderful it was my will that kept me going." He was once a mechanic that worked on luxury cars but now Ron has other interests, including listening to jazz, staying up on current events, and caring for his plants. Ron and his neighbors at SHO's September House apartments have created a true community that cares for each other. "We have got great people here," he said. "We all cook for each other, share food, and watch out for each other. We have each others' self-interests in mind."
