BALLOON NEWS: WRAL Balloon Festival Closing Ceremonies begin at 11:00 am on Monday morning (May 29th) with a poignant 21-basket salute by the balloon pilots, words by local officials, and the de-commissioning of the Field of Flags. The flags are transported to a cemetery by the Honor Caravan of classic cars, which drive through downtown in parade style shortly after 11:30 am. Residents are encouraged to be downtown by 11:30 to cheer on the Honor Caravan. This is a wonderful ending to the festival and we highly recommend that you attend if you have not before!
