We believe that the essential tenets of the Reformed Christian faith, as expressed in the Confessions of our church,* are authentic and reliable expositions of what Scripture leads us to believe and to do. What follows is a concise summary of what we, The First Presbyterian Church, Starkville, believe are the essential tenets of our faith as taught in Scripture and summarized in the Confessions. In affirming the essentials of our faith, we also affirm the maxim of our faith that provided wise guidance to 17th century Christians after decades of gospel impeding religious wars between Christians who actually shared the same essential tenets regarding the sole authority of the Lord and His Word: “In Essentials, Unity; In Non-Essentials, Liberty; In All Things, Charity.”
