The Adopt-A-Native-Elder (ANE) Program supports Elders who live in the cultural and spiritual traditions of the Navajo (also called Dine') people. Most live in remote portions of the Navajo reservation. Many live in traditional hogans, with no running water, and some have no electricity. Some raise sheep as a means of maintaining themselves and to obtain wool for weaving.
ANE depends on hundreds of volunteers and runs on the generous donations of time, energy, and money from people who get involve. The program needs people with many skills to accomplish the wide spectrum of tasks required to complete its mission.
Adopting an Elder is one of many ways in which you can participate in the Giveaway Circle. You choose the way that best fits your specific interests and ability to give: Adopting an Elder, Program Volunteers, Food Runs, and the Annual Rug Show and Catalog. Visit our website for more information.
