Stony Brook Medicine Employee Crowned Ms. New York Senior America When she is not working in the hospital's Purchasing Department, Lee Ann Brill shares her love of singing with others. A gifted soprano, she has performed at the Long Island State Veterans Home during its Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, as well as its Veterans Graduation Day. She can also be seen in the hospital lobby singing during the weekly Musical Interludes. This year, Lee Ann decided to showcase her talent at the Ms. New York Senior America competition and applied to participate in its annual pageant. Out of roughly 300 applicants, she was selected to be one of 12 women to compete. And in her very first competition, Lee Ann was crowned 2017 Ms. New York Senior America! She will go on to represent New York State in the national pageant this October in Atlantic City. "This is a wonderful privilege and honor for me," she said. Ms. New York Senior America celebrates the lives and contributions of women ages 60 and older. Contestants are judged and scored on their philosophy on life, evening gown presentation, talent and an interview by the panel of judges. "There's that myth that when women reach a certain age, they stop living life, and the reality is that we still have so much more to give," Lee Ann said. Please join us in congratulating Lee Ann!!!
