Happy Thanksgiving! I’m grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. #iloveanchorage #givingthanks

Last night, the Assembly passed the 2018 Municipal budget that promotes public safety, protects our city’s AAA bond rating, and bolsters our homelessness assistance programs. Residential property owners will see taxes go down an average of $131 next year, and in December, the Assembly will vote on adding a ballot initiative to further lower property taxes through an increase in the annual residential property tax exemption. For more about the budget, check out ADN’s article on last night’s vote.
Homeowners will pay about $130 less in property taxes next year on average, but drivers will pay a new local gas tax, starting in March.

Thank you to the Painters & Allied Trades Local Union 1959, community volunteers, and local Sherwin-Williams stores for helping us put a fresh face on the Mountain View Boys & Girls Club this weekend. IUPAT members spent hours last week mending holes in the walls and ceiling to prepare for painting, and then put the finishing touches on this weekend with help from neighbors, giving Mountain View a colorful and attractive place for kids to spend their time. Thank you for giving back!

We had a great first #GISday at the Municipality, with an augmented reality sandbox, map of the new bus routes, gallery of the 2040 land use plans, and Parks and Rec maps. Thank you, Municipality of Anchorage GIS, Anchorage Parks and Recreation, Anchorage i-team, and everyone else who visited and helped make the day a success!
