Trillium Creek Dermatology is known for its innovative therapies and being the first in the area to offer new treatment modalities. VeinWave therapy is the latest offering for removing small, unwanted veins anywhere on the body. VeinWave has been successful in treating veins in which Sclerotherapy (an injection technique for removing larger veins) is inappropriate. Veins less than 4 mm on the face, neck, ankles and legs respond very well to treatment. According to Trillium Creek Medical Director, Dr. Leonard Torok, VeinWave therapy works well on thread veins and on the legs and face. “It leaves a little redness on the skin for a week or so,” Dr. Torok says. “It does not have the problem of hyperpigmentation that can occur after more painful procedures such as lasers and intense pulsed light,” Dr. Torok say. “The VeinWave is only appropriate for small thread veins that are too small to practically remove with Sclerotherapy. VeinWave uses an ultrafine insulated needle through which very high frequency microwave energy is delivered into the blood vessels. This causes thermocoagulation, a process that causes heating and shrinkage of the veins without damaging surrounding skin. After treatment, the damaged blood vessels gradually disappear over the next few weeks. You can resume normal activities immediately. Treatment time is proportionate to the number of veins needing treatment. “20 to 30 minutes is the usual treatment time,” Dr. Torok says. “If the patient has a number of veins to be treated, 30 minutes of treatment is a comfortable, tolerable amount of time to be done at one time. http://www.trilliumcreekohio.com/blog
