We hope everyone is enjoying their #funinthesun this #summer with family, friends, and yummy food. In support of #NationalPicnicMonth, here's another Ryder #funfact for you: In 2016, Ryder's Bay Valley SE distribution center shipped 221,986 cases of dill hamburger pickles…that equates to an average of 36,997 jars, which equates to 3,699,700 slices--you could top a hamburger for the entire city of Chicago with that!

"Some of the main disruptors affecting the customer-centric #supplychain include drastic changes around talent management, technology and consumers’ needs and expectations. We’ve identified at least three impacting our customers at Ryder." Be sure to check out the below byline featured in Supply Chain Management Review, contributed by Ryder's VP of Supply Chain Excellence Gary Allen.

We're exactly 1 week away from #RyderTopTech! It's time to meet one last, but certainly not least, finalist Wyatt Stafford from Maine. This is Wyatt's first time making it to the competition final. "I'm looking forward to learning more about the trucks we work on daily and meeting more people in the Ryder family. I enjoy talking to other techs just as much as I like taking to upper management about problems we face and new things coming to Ryder." When asked about Top Tech, he said, "it’s a great program to get into...getting involved with it allows you to be a better technician and gets you a chance to be rewarded for what we do day in and day out." When asked what it took to make it to this point, he said, "Family first--they make you who you are. Additionally, all the instructors I've had over the years, along with my eagerness to learn and never give up on a problem till I find a solution." Help us in congratulating and wishing Wyatt luck in Nashville! #GetToKnowYourTechs #MusicCity

Remember Darek Mowinski? He's Ryder's 2016 Top Technician and the first-ever Ryder Canada tech to win the competition. We recently caught up with him to see what words of wisdom he had to share with this year's top finalists. Darek, who celebrates 20 years with Ryder this fall, says "the truth is, the basic, simple things are the most important and often the most effective. Stay calm, trust your instincts and training, and don't let anything throw you off your game." He says that participating in #RyderTopTech these past years has taught him that there's always more to learn. "Rising to the challenge takes personal accountability, and knowing that you have Ryder's network of training and support ensures you can continue to grow and succeed." Thanks for sharing, Darek! We'll see you and our top six finalists in Nashville next week!
