A huge thank you goes out to everyone who came out to the Plant Exchange and Sale on Saturday! There are still some plants that are looking for homes sitting in front of the Nature Center.

Tiger Swallowtails are starting to fly around. Watch for them in forests and yards. They lay their eggs on Cherry, Willow, Tulip Poplar and other local trees.

Audubon Community Nature Center shared their event.
The Plant Exchange and Sale has started! There are some amazing plants to purchase or trade for, as well as some amazing volunteers who can tell you more about the plants.
Learn about plants, buy some or trade some. Plant Exchange gives gardeners an opportunity to share with others some of their extras, or pick up some new plants. Information about native plants is available. In the spring, many gardeners find that their yards have empty spaces in need of plants or too many volunteer plants that need new homes. Plant Exchange aims to assist by allowing gardeners to trade their extras for new items, or simply provide plants for sale for those who need them. Local nurseries donate butterfly plants, there are often natives, and the last few years have seen an increase in trees and shrubs donated. Occasionally some ephemeral spring wildflowers or fruit vines and bushes show up. New this year is a “Why Go Native?” booth featuring local butterflies and which natives to plant for them, which natives are the best pollinator plants, and which plants will help your vegetable garden by attracting beneficial insects. There may even be some native plants for sale at that booth. Bring cash if you want to purchase plants. If you want to trade, plants must be in pots, of a non-invasive variety, and in good condition. ACNC reserves the right to refuse plants or adjust the exchange rate based on species and condition. You may drop plants off as early as Thursday if you wish to donate but can’t make the event. Special Information: This program is outdoors, please come prepared for the weather.
