Radon is a naturally occuring radioactive gas that comes from the earth and accumulates indoors. Recently revised EPA risk assessments estimate that 21,000 Americans die annually from Radon induced lung cancer. Scientists are increasingly suspicious that Radon may be linked to disease in other parts of the body as well. Researchers at the University of North Dakota have discovered what may be a link between Radon and Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
About half of the homes in southeast Pennsylvania have Radon levels above the EPA action level of 4pCi/L. The only way to determine if you have an elevated Radon level is to test. Radon testing is easy and inexpensive. If you have a Radon problem, it can be fixed.
