Don't hire a contractor without Workman Compensation Insurance! When you are hiring a contractor to perform work on your home in the State of Illinois, it is crucial that you make sure they have workman compensation insurance. If they don’t – you could be responsible for their medical bills and injuries sustained on your property. Any contractor that you hire, from a roofer, insulator, heating contractor, electrician or plumber is required by law to carry workman compensation insurance. Unfortunately, that does not mean that they actually carry this insurance. Many contractors skip this insurance to save themselves money. If they get hurt on your property – such as falling off your roof, falling through your ceiling, getting electrocuted or cutting themselves, the contractor will try to sue your homeowners insurance. In the State of Illinois, your homeowners insurance will not cover this expense unless you buy and pay for an additional policy. Your insurance company will inform you that it is the homeowners responsibility to make sure any contractor they hire has workman compensation insurance. What this means for you is that the contractor will sue you directly for his/her injuries and possible long term care. Before you hire any contractor, insist on receiving a certificate of insurance from that contractor. This certificate will list each type of insurance policy the contractor has. Make sure workman compensation insurance is one of the policies listed. If not, then do not hire that contractor. Also ask for the certificate of insurance to sent to you from the contractors insurance company. This will verify that the policy is still in effect and hasn’t been cancelled. It is up to every homeowner to protect themselves from costly lawsuits by insisting on verification of workman's compensation insurance before they hire a company to work on their home. The only result you want from hiring a contractor is an improvement in your home, not a lawsuit that could result in you owing money to a contractor that was injured and didn’t carry the proper insurance.

All Comfort Insulation celebrates 40 years! All Comfort Insulation was founded in 1976 and is celebrating 40 years of insulating homes in Chicago and the suburbs. Over the years, we have enjoyed working with our customers to make their homes more comfortable and energy efficient. Some of our customers have moved 4 or 5 times over the years and have counted on us to insulate each home along the way. We have insulated over 40,000 homes in the past 40 years and are very proud of the savings and comfort we have been able to help our customers achieve. Building sciences have changed over the last 40 years. Homes are being built tighter with better windows, insulation, air sealing and heating systems. Older existing homes are being retrofitted to meet these same standards. The attic insulation code for the State of Illinois is currently an R49, much higher than in the past when it was only an R19. To keep up with all the current codes and building sciences, we are certified by the Building Performance Institute and attend training seminars and classes to retain our certifications. We look forward to serving our customers for many, many years to come. Our experience and knowledge are invaluable to assess today’s homes – especially in the Chicagoland area where our weather conditions change daily. To our current and past customers, we say thank you very much for inviting us into your homes. To our prospective customers, we say please give us a call at 630-543-2626 and let us help you achieve greater comfort and energy savings in your home.
