Aaron Cohen Associates LTD, Library Consultant, began in the early 1970's when our founder Aaron Cohen led a space planning workshop for the Federal Government. Soon the business expanded to provide architectural programs to academic, public, government, law, medical, corporate and special libraries. Our library consultants have developed master facility plans and building projects ranging from renovations and additions to new buildings.
We know that library computing/learning spaces and preservation/ archives are built on different service models. We have developed collaborative workstations with flexible tables/chairs and preservation centers with ARS systems that control the temperature and humidity. Our space planning consultants have developed the information commons for academic, public and special libraries. We have integrated academic computing space into the learning environment and reorganized historic buildings by improving the layout of the seating, collection and staff/operations space.
Library Programming requires in-depth knowledge of the ways in which library buildings function. We are librarians (MLS), architects, library management and IT consultants. Feasibility projects include learning commons, information commons, preservation, archives, special collections, library technology/digitization planning and digital asset analysis.
Our experience is broad: projects range in size from small special libraries to very large international library projects.
