Established in 1991, the Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA) is a private, nonprofit organization that serves as the state commission on service and volunteerism. Its mission is to catalyze the innovation and growth of service and volunteerism by creating partnerships that maximize resources, expertise, capacity, and impact.
MSA administers the AmeriCorps program for Massachusetts, the Governor’s Commonwealth Corps program, and other grants that support the capacity of the volunteerism sector. With MSA's support, each year thousands of people serve as corps members, mentors, and volunteers across the Commonwealth by tutoring and mentoring children, cleaning up beaches, restoring and maintaining trails, building affordable housing, and providing legal assistance to low-income families.
