The musical, "Kilroy Was Here" is quickly approaching opening night. Some announcements: There are still some slots open for the military and law enforcement volunteers - if you (or someone you know) have served or are currently serving our country in either the military or local law enforcement - we'd love to have you join us. Also, if you were interested in the children's choir, let us know ASAP - their song is already sounding pretty good after one rehearsal. We need some empty 2 liter green soda bottles for prop construction. We are also looking for 5 small umbrellas, suitable to the time frame (longer cane type handles rather than the more modern compact ones.)

This patriotic musical, set in 1942 at a Brooklyn U.S.O club, offers a warm salute to the brave men and women of the armed forces. Bring the family, step back in time, and enjoy an evening of music and fun.

Salute the brave men and women serving in the military with this patriotic comedy. We guarantee there won’t be a dry eye in the house after the stirring song ’Together We Must Stand’ and a tribute to all branches of the military. Still, Kilroy is a comedy and the setting is a USO Club (’The Serviceman’s ’Home Away From Home’’) in 1942 Brooklyn. Ships leaving the nearby Navy yard are being sunk by enemy U-boats. Allied Intelligence suspects the USO club is unknowingly harboring Axis spies. Enter Private Joe Kilroy, a young soldier who draws a curious cartoon face everywhere he goes (and is this causing trouble!). He’s the only one who knows where the next Allied convoy will converge. Enemy agents will stop at nothing to learn his secret. The action builds to an exciting finale during a wild radio broadcast. The score includes such hits as ’Don’t Say No To The U.S.O.,’ ’Slap That Jukebox,’ ’Jitterbug Saturday Night,’ and ’Rat-a-tat-tat That Rivet,’ performed with classic Andrews Sisters-style harmony.
