Milkweed Editions is an independent book publisher based in Minneapolis. We publish 18-20 books of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry annually. Our mission is to identify, nurture and publish transformative literature, and build an engaged community around it.
Milkweed Books is an independent bookstore located in Open Book. Featuring a selection of the best literary books, we also offer events, membership, a national subscription service, and local bicycle delivery. Milkweed Books is a part of Milkweed Editions, but we don't only sell books that we ourselves publish. The store's mix of titles reflects our mission: Milkweed Books showcases and sells titles primarily published by independent presses, nonprofit presses, and other publishers working to bring the most exciting literary art to the marketplace. (Noted hours are those of operation for Milkweed Books.)
Milkweed Editions and Milkweed Books are critical components of a complex ecosystem including writers, publishers, booksellers, reviewers, librarians, educators, donors, book buyers, and readers—all, in short, who contribute to a vibrant literary culture.
