If you had to guess how many kids are experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County right now, what would you say?
Keep counting. Last school year, the PA Department of Education identified 3,000 children from birth through grade twelve are as homeless in Allegheny County.
---
Without a stable place to call home, children face enormous barriers to their education, their future. As one of our supporters recently put it, "How can a child do homework without a home?"
The Homeless Children's Education Fund (HCEF) is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities and experiences for children and youth residing in 27 of Allegheny County's homeless shelters and transitional housing facilities.
---
HCEF helps homeless children and youth realize their potential through a number of innovative educational programs inside our 27 partnering sites, as well as through advocacy work at the local, state, and national level.
