The Rice Museum tour tells of the rice culture in Georgetown County, SC, one of the most colorful chapters in American history, through maps, dioramas, artifacts and other exhibits. It also includes the Browns Ferry Vessel, the oldest vessel of colonial manufacture in the US, exhibits on the Kaminski Hardware Company, Gullah history of the SC low country; Miss Ruby Forsythe, one of SC's great educators; and Joseph Hayne Rainey, the first African American elected to the Congress. The Rice Museum gift shop includes local arts and crafts as well as jewelry, arts and crafts, and home accessories from around the world. The Prevost gallery features rotating exhibits of art and history.
