Dyson's Home for Funerals

On Sunday, the sixth day of December 1987, Dyson’s Home for Funerals celebrated the official opening by welcoming the community to a service of dedication. It was the vision and determination of its founder, Richard Allen Dyson, which brought us to this momentous occasion. Along with local
clergy, community leaders and many well wishers, the founder and staff saw the fruition of much hard work. From our humble beginnings; an old house, a black fleet and wooden sign, we have become a distinctive landmark in downtown Summerton.

Through faith and much prayer, renovations were made to the funeral home. The building front was remodeled and changed to the color white. Landscaping, a new white fleet and a modern sign completed the “new” look on the outside of the building. Inside, the vision continued to make Dyson’s Home for Funerals an establishment to better serve the community.

As we continue to grow, we must also change. A modern chapel and family room were customized to conform to all types of services. The front was redesigned to compliment the building and give a historic feel. Inside, state-of –the –art equipment provided personalized service with innovative designs.

With the needs of the community changing, Dyson’s Home for Funerals felt the need to change, also. However, one thing still remains constant- Our Compassionate Service. We continuously strive to be both professional and progressive, so that we can meet the needs of the families who rely on us.

We have come a long way and yet there is still much to do. Our mission is to better serve our community and as we strive to this, we will continue to grow.
