After a long day of architectin' there's nothing quite like the unmanaged beauty of Oakland's industrial infrastructure silhouetted against the lights of San Francisco and the setting sun. #thelifeaquatic

At the end of a long day of architectin', there's nothing quite like the quiet beauty of Oakland's industrial waterfront silhouetted against the lights of San Francisco and the glow of the setting western sun. #thelifeaquatic

Meeting of the minds....(?). Mark and our sculptor friend Cam Schoepp negotiating details for the Schoepp-Thornton studio project in Fort Worth. One thing for certain, when designing for artists, everyone has an opinion. What do you get when you put together two of the most stubborn, detail-obsessed, relentless systems purists ever seen trying to finalize materials transitions details? Add 102 degrees and high humidity, dehydration, and being hungry for the promised local barbecue for lunch....and then a breakthrough resolution that seems to resolve all the different situations where the details must interface. On our way (I hope) to progress on yet one more of the dozens of projects we've all done together over 35 years. Creative collaborators, clients, employees, fabricators, consultants, contractors and friends since before we were legal to buy beer (not sure how we resolved these discussions in those first few years...). Stay tuned for more photos of the new production and creative spaces for artists Terri Thornton and Cameron Schoepp, the latest addition to our compound of collaborative architecture projects on West 4th Street in Fort Worth. #intheshadowofthekimbell #whatdoyougetwhenyoumixnorwegiansandgermans #nocainandabels

Unfinished stair tower leading to Our artist friend Chris Powell's studio in the sky, reaching high up into the native Texas pecan tree. It will all be clad soon in black steel plate.

Mark and I are enjoying our site visits to projects under construction in Texas. Here are clients Vonne and Chris Powell in front of their house, still seemingly unfazed by the lack of windows. They did ask for suggestions on interior lighting, so maybe they have noticed it is dark inside. Still, purity is everything, in the house as well as in Chris's sculpture and ceramic work, which will look great in and around the house. Stay tuned....
