In response to the decline of the Everglades ecosystem and the surrounding area, outdoor enthusiasts, environmentalists, and residents of Florida worked together to form the Everglades Foundation. The original founding members, George Barley and Paul Tudor Jones II, aimed to improve water management practices and minimize pollution, and we continue to raise awareness about the greater Everglades ecosystem. In addition to grants, the Foundation supports necessary legal actions to help protect the Everglades. The organization is supported by noteworthy performers, professional athletes, and business persons including Jimmy Buffett, golfer Jack Nicklaus, and author Carl Hiassen.
