San Diego Council On Literacy

40
We represent a network 30 affiliated literacy program partners that annually provide services to 170,000 residents of all ages, at no cost.

The SDCOL and its partners are responding to data which shows that 20% of adults in the San Diego region read at the lowest level of literacy. The adults struggle in meeting their personal and professional needs, as this affects their ability to function as heads of households, parents, child’s first teacher, community members, workers, and students. As a result, their children are at increased risk to not emerge as readers. Through our shared interventions, more people read. And this enhances quality of life for all.
