Today, Cub Scouts and their families gathered to cheer on their racers in the Pinewood Derby. Below, Simon Weber talked with leader Jim Poueymirou. His dad, Chris Weber, was one of the judges at the end of the track for the first set of races. The kids came up with their own carnival games, and everyone enjoyed pizza as they watched Danny and Elijah Tammen race each other for the championship. Who won? Ask Elijah and Danny about their race.

As part of a new intiative to more closely intertwine the work of seminary, church, and community, The Public Church Network at LSTC is hosting a series of "Public Church Pop-Ups" to foster greater collaboration between rostered, lay, and seminary leaders for the sake of Gospel. Our first event, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church will feature two special guests: Linda Bond, Director of Peace Camp, will some her insights and stories from working for her organization and how they relate to Bethlehem Lutheran. Rev. Dr. Richard Perry, LSTC professor, will give a talk entitled "Called into the World, How?" - pulling upon his decades in urban ministry and as one of the teachers of the LSTC Public Church curriculum. All are welcome - lay and rostered, friend and colleague - to come and have some real community, get a bite to eat, and to enjoy some meaningful networking and down-time. Contact Elise Anderson at or (803) 730-2466 to RSVP for this event, and invite your friends! We'll see you there.
