Tennessee AFL-CIO Labor Council shared Hamilton County Democratic Party's event.
Happening TOMORROW: If you'll be in the Chattanooga area, join the Hamilton County Democratic Party in telling Senator Alexander and Senator Corker that the GOP health care bill is harmful to Tennesseans and that we expect them to vote "NO!" While no action will be taken on the bill until at least next week, it's crucial that we continue to make our voices heard!
After weeks of closed door meetings, the Senate unveiled its new healthcare plan - a plan that cuts funding for Medicaid and Planned Parenthood, allows insurance companies to eliminate essential care benefits like maternity care and substance abuse treatment, and eliminates healthcare subsidies for working families. This is a disaster for the American people and our economy. It is a healthcare bill that gives massive tax breaks to drug companies, insurance companies, and the wealthy at the expense of low and middle-income families. This bill is opposed by the AARP, the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Medical Association, the American Nurses Association, and the American Cancer Society, among others. It's time to send a message to our elected representatives - on both the State and Federal level - that this plan moves us in entirely the wrong direction. This rally is an effort to unite our voices against this proposal and send the message to Senators Corker and Alexander that this legislation is unacceptable. We are coordinating with several other counties across the state for a statewide action against this bill. Please help spread the word - the time is now. To volunteer email hcdp.tn@gmail.com.

"The national trend today looks like the Rustbelt 1980s on steroids. President Trump’s budget proposal follows the playbook that corporate lobbyists have long pushed in state legislatures: tax cuts for companies and the rich, coupled with dramatic cuts to services that benefit everyone."
This article was originally posted on Good Jobs First’s blog. When the term “Rustbelt” was coined in the 1980s and activists learned the early warning signs of a plant closing, one of those indicators was tax dodging. If a company knew it was planning to close a factory, it would often challenge it...

Actions speak louder than words, Mr. President. Your actions once again prove that you couldn't care less about working people.
As the president moves to fill vacant seats on the National Labor Relations Board, swinging it to Republican control, many rules favorable to unions may fall.
