The Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon’s Spring Concert Series opens with a 7:30PM performance on Friday, May 19 at the Oregon Center for the Arts Recital Hall on the SOU campus in Ashland. The series continues on Saturday, May 20 with a 7:30PM concert at the Performing Arts Center in Grants Pass and closes with a 3:00PM performance on Sunday, May 21 at the Craterian Theater at the Collier Center in Medford. Tickets are $10 and $5 (students w/ID) and are available at Paddington Station in Ashland, Oregon Books in Grants Pass and Artistic Piano in Medford. Tickets for the Medford concert are available through the Craterian box office (541-779-3000). Tickets also are sold at the door. The program features Wieniawski’s "Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor," "Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4" by Villa-Lobos, Suppé’s "Poet & Peasant Overture" and other works. The Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestra will be led by Music Director & Conductor Dr. Cynthia Hutton. The Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon 2016-2017 Concert Season continues with Winter Concert Series performances on February 17, 18 & 19, 2017. The program includes Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4 featuring Lily Dunlap as soloist. Also on the concert program is Symphony in E minor, Op. 32 “Gaelic” by 19th century American composer Amy M. Beach, as well as works by Brahms (arr. Leidig), Hull and Newbold. The Youth Orchestra and Youth Symphony will be led by YSSO Music Director Cynthia Hutton. The Winter Concert Series Partner is the Dunlap Silsby Family Foundation. Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon 2017 Concerto Competition Monday, January 23, 2017, 7:30PM Oregon Center for the Arts Recital Hall at SOU in Ashland Several advanced level Youth Symphony musicians will compete for an opportunity to play with the Youth Symphony as a soloist. The public is invited to attend and listen to the performances. Ashland violinist Lily Dunlap, one of the 2016 Concerto Competition winners, will be the featured soloist in the Winter Concert Series performances on February 17, 18 & 19, 2017.
