Last night more than 12,200 people sought refuge in 200 government and Red Cross shelters across Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. More than 2,400 Red Cross workers are responding to Irma and Maria now, with almost 350 additional volunteers on the way.
