The story begins with the original owner Nick “Novi,” a man that wanted to create a local restaurant in which ordinary people could stop in and get a great beef sandwich for a good price. He opened the original Novi’s on the corner of Oak Park and Ogden Avenue as a beef stand in 1966 until he sold it in 1976. The next set of owners continued Nick’s vision with an expanded new facility. At this location, pushed a little further back than where the original stand stood, customers could still get a great beef sandwich, eat in at Novi’s stainless steel counters, and leave happy.
Hundreds of thousands of beef sandwiches later, the Lattas family bought Novi’s in 1989. Novi’s is still here today, with the same great idea and the same great recipe for Italian beef. Not only is Novi’s a Chicagoland landmark (we’ve kept the famous counter tops through expansion), but it also serves as the south suburb’s premier catering establishments. We still hold true old Nick Novi’s intentions–great food and great prices.
