There’s an old survey called the pareto principle that says 20% of the people do 80% of the work. This applies outside of churches also. We here at Life Church with the Lord Jesus Christ helping us are raising up an army of warriors & workers we call disciples that will do 100% of the work. We are accomplishing this by welcoming all who walk through our doors feel like family and placing them in the areas they are most passionate about. We incorporate the Ephesians 4 model where leaders equip the saints for the work of the ministry to build up the entire body. We have done away with the word “volunteer” because in leaves you feeling like I can participate if I want to. We prefer words like family and team where everyone is involved, lessening the load on everyone, and all get to share in the victories!
Just a couple of victory stories! We have a precious lady who uses a walker/stroller due to medical challenges. She was asked by our nursery worker if she would like to work in our nursery to which she responded, I can’t stand up very long, all I could do would be to rock babies. The worker said, that’s all I need you to do is rock babies! Come on now, all grandmothers enjoy rocking babies. She is in her glory serving Jesus by rocking babies!
Another widow in our church who raised five children alone after her husband was tragically killed in a work place accident asked if she could assist in our orphan & widows ministry to which I said yes. She went right to work and came up with and immediate plan and now she’s not assisting but coordinating all of the ministry to our widows and orphans.
I could go on and on about how God is placing people all throughout Life Church to do the work of the ministry, and they are serving joyfully from our children’s programs, to our youth, on to our adults. If you’re looking for a church family that will welcome you and put you to work in His harvest field, Life Church just may be the place you’ve been looking for. If you’re already planted in another work, get to work where you’re planted and find the great joy of serving.
